Stonewall Revival

Just a few months after re-opening the space, Jimmy's friends pitched in one early morning to inflate hundreds of balloons to decorate the bar and Christopher Street in honor of Gay Pride.

In the early morning hours of June 24, 1990, Jimmy Pisano, the staff of New Jimmy's and numerous friends help prepare for Gay Pride.

Hundreds of balloons lined Christopher Street to mark the re-opening of the place where it all began.

The first Gay Pride of the Stonewall Revival was an extraordinary sight to see. Thousands came into New Jimmy's to see the place where the gay rights movement began. But the scene outside was even more remarkable...

Twenty one years after the police had come to raid the space, the men and women of the NYPD were there in 1990 to ensure that Gay Pride was a wonderful celebration. One of the staff of New Jimmy's, above center, had some fun with New York's Finest and, it seems, they had some fun too.
