Jimmy Pisano died on March 4, 1994 just a few months prior to the 25th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. He had battled AIDS for a number of years.
Jimmy's friends, the staff of Stonewall, and patrons rallied to keep the bar open, in honor of Jimmy and in light of the upcoming milestone anniversary. Even after four years, the bar was still not profitable. A number of events were held to help bolster business, including a 4th Anniversary Party - Carnival Night - on May 24, 1994.
Many of the photos posted on this website were displayed on a memory wall that evening as a tribute to what Jimmy Pisano had accomplished in re-opening Stonewall.
